Week One - Write a summary of the class reading book you looked at last term. What was it called? Who wrote it? What was the basic storyline? What stood out for you as its main themes? Would you recommend it to someone else?
Last term I read the book "A wrinkle in Time". It was quite good but in the middle it was a little boring. It got better at the end though. It was pretty confusing at the end. Its about a girl named Meg and her little brother Charles Wallace. Their mother and father are scientists and their father goes on a secret mission and never returns. They go on and adventure through space and time trying to find him but first they have to face alot of things such as the evil IT. They also make a few friends on the way.
It wasnt my favourite book ive ever read but it wasnt bad. I would recomend it to people who like an interesting but complicated book. I myself thought it should have been a little more using the KISS system. You really have to understand all the words that are in the book to understand the whole entire book. It uses alot of scientific words. It is written by Madeline L'engle.
Week Two - What type of books do you enjoy reading? Do you like funny books? Science Fiction? Scary stories? Adventure? Sad stories? Do you have a favourite book at the moment? Do you prefer to read stories where the main character is your age? Male? Female?
I like action and adventure books such as Harry Potter and Skullduggery Pleasant. I dont mind if the characters are male or female. I like some books that arent really realistic like magic. My favourite book at the moment is probably Skullduggery Pleasant. Its a good book but gets a tiny bit boring in the middle of it but once you get past that its a really good book. Its wriiten by Derek Landy.
I do sort of prefer books where the characters are near my age. Really because they make it more interesting because it shows what you can do.
You most disliked character in a book and why.
In the book skulduggery pleasant my character that I dislike the most is Nefarian Serpine who is the bad guy and he commits alot of murder. He also tortures people and makes them feel horrific pain with his deadly red right hand. He wants to get the sceptre so he can rule the world MOOOHOOOOHAHAHA. He is SOOO evil that he will kill anybody that stands in his path of world domination. Many people fear him but not everyone does fear him. He is a terrible man and no one should like him. He murdered Gordon Edgley who is the one of the main characters uncle. The other main character was aqlso murdered and tortured by Nefarian but luckily he somehow came back to life as a skeleton. Serpine doesn't care about anyone but himself. He is a self-centered, mean, bad man. No-one should care about him in return.
I had no idea you were a Skulduggery fan Josh! I love these books! Have you read all four? We must chat about them at some stage. I agess with you on Nefarian Serpine, a truly nasty piece of work... Mrs G
Nefarian Serpine sounds evil, i'm sure I would dislike him as well. I have heard of the series Skulduggery Pleasent but I have not read it. It sounds quite
interesting. I really would like to see Nefarian Serpine's horrific red right hand.
At the momet im reading the Extreme Adventures series by Justin D'ath. The last book I read in the series was Bushfire Rescue. My most
disliked characters in that book were the robbers. Sam's uncle lived in the farm and had a prize winning bull that won him a lot of money but the robbers
stole it. Sam is doing anything he can to get his uncle's bull back. If you want to know if Sam gets the bull from the robbers and safe the day... READ THE BOOK!
Hope you liked my response. Russel Gordon
What has been your most favourite Justin D'Ath extreme adventure book and why
I haven't read a book by Justin D'Ath but i have read a book called eye of a tornado. it is the only book i have read this term besides Hatchet. I dom't like this book that much because it was small and it was a little bit babyish and one of the paragraphs was one page. the book made no sense and I thought was too small and easy to read.
I have read 6 or 7 Extreme Adventure books so it is pretty hard to choose which one is my favourite but think that Devil Danger is my favourite. I like how it uses the animal on the cover more than in the other Extreme Adventures I have read. I also like how you get the urge to skip to the end of the book to see what happens. I didn't land up skipping to the end so now that I have read the whole book I am very happy that I didn't skip to the end. If I had skipped to the end I would of missed some of the best parts of the novel.
I had actually started reading the Extreme Adventure series a few years ago but back then I hadn't really liked them. Devil Danger is a great book and if any people haven't read any Extreme Adventure books I recommend this as the one to start with because I think that it will get you to love the Extreme Adventure books as much as I do and other class members.
